Long time no blog...

Been a while since I logged in due to fun times at work and spending time with Brandie. I should probably write something. What though. Wouldn't be cool if I was writing something, and didn't even know it. Wait, I'm thinking out loud (or out typed...what's the correct conjugation there). Anyway, time for some random thoughts...

(1) Duct tape - nature's (kinda, I guess) band-aid for everything. My wallet's made out of the stuff. It fixes nearly everything and fits into conversation well. For instance, I refered to my poker game in Tunica as previously being held together by string, but it's now moved to duct tape, and now I'm looking at drywall and aluminium siding...see, poetic brilliance (I'm a coder, it's poetic brilliance for me). Leaky pipes? Fixed. Hanging a note for a friend taking care of your house? It tears too easily to be true (and doesn't always take off the paint)! Need to quiet a neighbor's...nevermind, you get the picture. Love it.

(2) {Insert semi/omnicient diety here} bless Andy Rooney. The man is comic genius. I only hope when I get old and crotchity, I can be as crotchity as him. From junk mail to Girl Scout cookies, he has a clear world view. I'm usually busy during the first parts of 60 minutes (unless a sport has shifted the time, then I wath till it conflicts with Criminal Intent), but I always try to catch
Andy. Props Rooney...props.

Looking forward to the game at Sham's this weekend. Meet the poker kitten and wings at Manual's. Beer anyone?

Back in the saddle again...

...and damn it feels good.

Getting onto your wireless network using your girlfriend's computer:
Free
A buyin to a .10/.25 NL game:
$25
Doubling up plus in 40 minutes after a looooong time of not playing online:
Priceless

How many more lame cliches can I add here. I'll just stop rather than testing myself.

So I finally got to play again. After realizing that Brandie has a laptop with wireless (ok, realized a while ago, 2+2 not put together) and getting home early today, I asked if I could play some cards while she watched TV. She agreed. Score!

Lost $4 early on on a K/10 (in cutoff) against an A/10 on a rivered 10...oh well. A few hands later, I got pocket 6's in middle and jacked the folded around pot up (a whole dollar mind you...brutal, I know). I got called in 2 spots. I flopped a set (with a Kx to go along) and bet out $2.50. Called by this guy who did not raise anything but the minimum (unless he had already raised the minimum once, then it went to 2x the minimum...tricky, nice hand sir). The other guy folded. Turn came another K, and I was gonna lead out $7. Some brush of the wrist lead me to raise the minimum instead (not as bad a Kuro's fate, but still...doh!). He raised to $2 then I went for my $7 and got called. River came an 8, and I pushed. I was instantly called and he turned over A's. Yay!

A couple of sets here, a few A/babies that 2 paired there (I was a rack today, boy) and all is well (and doubled up!). Though I only got 40 minutes, it was pure joy. I thank Brandie tremendously for allowing me to exploit her computer. Cats are happy to have had a snack. Hope to be back to more play soon. Gotta pay for the new car somehow, right?

On another note, one of my other joys is in full swing this weekend (ok, Friday night). The Pride Open Weight Grand Prix starts this weekend. MMA is truely my favorite sport (soccer would be except there's more blood and less feigned injury in MMA). Give it a go.

Grrrrrrrrr...

Not much to report from the weekend game except that the first 5-10 buyin was a success. No one bought in for 5 :). Only 5 of us played, but for a good amount of time. Sham, Matt and I made money (and from Matt''s condition, I don't know how). No really interesting hands to talk about.

Bad news though. The mange mobile (as my car has become known due to the amount of dog hair) has died. The fixes (new clutch and radiator) would cost $1600 and the car just ain't worth it. Too many fixes over the past 5 years. Best to let this one go. Brandie is being an absolutley wonderful woman and is carting my sorry ass around. Shopping for a new one now. Hope this doesn't affect the WSOP trip...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

I need more time to play. I had a laptop at home recently, that while I could not attach to my wireless network (the only one from work with no wireless adapter of couse) allowed me to be uber productive during my normal slack period (prime time TV time). I therefore need a laptop to persue my game as I wish. Anyone have a recomendation (bear in mind that I'm a coder who does some serious processing, and it needs to handle work stuff as well as strategic investments...)?
